Hello,I have a problem with my RWS54.22. I bought it on Gunbroker.com in used condition. The problem is after I cock the gun & start to squeeze the trigger the action moves a tiny bit towards the rear of the gun.The rifle is accurate at 30 yards. I also own a RWS 54 in .177 cal and there is NO Movement What soever when I apply pressure to the trigger to shoot it.There is definitely somthing wrong with the RWS 54.22 I checked the stock bolts & they were OK.I check the trigger guard screws and found the rear trigger guard screw is stripped.I can snug it up & it has not come loose yet. Any advise on fixing securing the stripped wooden stock were the trigger guard screw goes. Thanks-Tim tgs989 in MI

Used guns are a crap-shoot at best. Sometimes you get a good one and often you don't. Can you send it back to Gunbroker?

Hi Kevin, You said it! I wont buy a used airgun again! Even though I like my used RWS 54, It has issues. This is what Roland at http://www.eddiecolwell.tzo.com/RWS-54.htm said.> Hi Tim:

If you take out the action from the stock, you will realize how the rail system is made. The rear rail, which has actually two guides, has a spring loaded bearing which should snap into a hole in the rearward position, preventing the action to go back ant forth if it is not because of the release of the trigger. Maybe the spring is not tight enough to retain the action. Remember not to tight the screw too much. It could also happen that during assembly the bearing fell out (quality control should have detected such a situation.I hope this helps. Roland< I will work on it tomarrow and I am cofident that I can adjust it enough to fix it. MY used RWS 54 also has the rear trigger gaurd srew that is stripped! Or I should say the wooden stock is stripped. I can snug it up but its not really tight. Thats the next thing that I have to figure out how to fix. Thanks for the reply-Tim

If the action moves rearward a little, does it also slide freely after being cocked? If not, then you may have a poor fit between the stock to rail surfaces. It sounds like you're just not fully engaging the detent for the rail system when you cock it though.

Hi Knobs,I got my RWS 54 adjusted! It shoots & locks up just fine. I bought the gun in a "so called like new condition" but it had two issues. Both of which has been fixed. Thanks for the good advise.-tim tgs989
